MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Public Works Director, Steven P. Latoski has announced that the Road Division of Mohave County Public Works is looking to hire multiple skilled and motivated highway workers through its Road Maintenance Worker Series. The Road Division has 76 full-time positions with another 4 new positions contemplated in the pending Mohave County Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget. Its talented work force maintains 2,100 miles of roads including over 830 miles of paved roads countywide with maintenance yards in Kingman, Mohave Valley, Golden Valley, Meadview, and the Arizona Strip (Beaver Dam to Colorado City areas).
Roads operates approximately 85 pieces of modern heavy equipment including its fleet of 20 motor graders, backhoes, dump trucks, crack sealing / patching / chip seal equipment, dozers, loaders, rollers, scrapers, sweepers, tractors, truck tractors and trailers, and water trucks. Routine services include road grading, pothole repair, crack sealing, shoulder maintenance, sweeping, and storm-driven road repair. Roads delivers a robust heavy maintenance program encompassing dozens of miles of chip seal work annually under its approximate $12 million budget.
The Public Works Department also is actively recruiting 11 positions in its Road Maintenance Worker Series. These range from entry level positions involved in the operation of light to medium equipment used in the maintenance and repair of county-maintained roads and property, to those providing advanced journey level work toward complexity of duties and effective operation of equipment with specialized operation of a specific piece of heavy equipment.
