KINGMAN — An elk created a ruckus on the streets of Kingman recently.

The Kingman Police Department received several reports of an elk causing a traffic hazard about 4:45 a.m. June 23 in the area of Airfield Ave. and Harrison St.

Officers arrived and found the elk walking in the roadway. They were able to direct the elk into the Mohave County Fairgrounds, where they could keep her contained.

Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) was notified. Later that afternoon, AZGFD sedated and capture the animal, releasing it at an undisclosed location.
