KINGMAN — Mohave County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a Mohave County Jail inmate.

A detention officer found about 8 p.m. June 8 an inmate who appeared to have hung himself in his closed cell.

Detention officers and medical staff initiated lifesaving efforts. Kingman Fire Department and River Medical responded to the facility.

The inmate, 27-year-old Rylee Adam Campo of Kingman, was transported by ambulance to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Campo was alone in his cell with the door closed and secured. The initial investigation shows no reason to suspect foul play. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and the medical examiner is scheduled to complete an autopsy in the coming days.

Campo had been booked in the jail on May 7 for several felony offenses originating in the Kingman area.
