MOHAVE COUNTY — The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is looking for dedicated citizens who want to volunteer for a professional and progressive law enforcement agency.
Both the Sheriff’s Posse and Boating Safety Officer Program offer training to volunteers in defensive driving, prisoner transport, radio usage, traffic control and basic Arizona law.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Posse members are active in the community assisting deputies with low priority calls for service, assisting at vehicle crash scenes providing traffic control and assisting at special events around the county.
Posse members are provided marked Sheriff’s Posse vehicles for use during their duties. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Posse Program has positions throughout Mohave County.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Officer Program is based out of Lake Havasu City, but the boating safety officers provide assistance on the lakes and rivers throughout Mohave County.
These volunteers assist boaters and swimmers when necessary, provide perimeter control during incidents on the water, ride and work with the Division of Boating Safety deputies and make positive and educational contacts with the boating public.
Volunteers are given a marked Mohave County Sheriff’s Patrol Watercraft during their duties. These programs are instrumental to the agency, and these volunteers show tremendous dedication that helps keep the county safe.
For more information, or to become a member of either of the departments, pick up an application at a local substation. All volunteers must be 18 years of age and pass a background check.
