MOHAVE COUNTY — The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting undercover sting operations around the county for the past several months.
The operation targeted individuals who were using the internet to lure minors for sexual exploitation. As a result of the most recent operation, two individuals were arrested.
Jason Duran Cooper, 34, of Kingman, was arrested for attempt to commit sexual exploitation of a minor and attempt to lure a minor for sexual exploitation, both felonies.
Brian Scott Reaves, 51, of Golden Valley, was arrested for felony luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). Training was provided by ICAC which helped in the success of these operations.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents in Mohave County to monitor their children’s internet usage. MCSO says the internet can be a wonderful tool, but can also be a path for offenders to gain access to children.
MCSO recommends parents limit children’s social media presence, and communicate about the hazards of speaking with anyone online.
