KINGMAN — Two people were arrested for squatting inside a residence in Kingman.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Diana David, 35, of Kingman, and Jared Shane Ley, 32, of Kingman.
Deputies responded about 7:20 p.m. June 4 to a call from a residence in the 4000 block of Pinal Street about suspicious activity. The reporting party believed there were squatters inside a vacant residence.
Deputies called the homeowner by telephone and confirmed that no one had authorization to be on the property. When deputies arrived a woman came out of the house. The woman, known from prior incidents, was identified as David. Deputies reported she gave a false name when asked about her identity.
According to MCSO, David said she had been given permission to move into the residence. She changed her story several times during the conversation. David was detained and deputies conducted a safety sweep of the residence. Deputies said they located a man, identified as Ley, hiding inside the residence under a pile of laundry. MCSO said a records check revealed Ley to have an active arrest warrant.
David was arrested for felony first degree criminal trespassing and misdemeanor false reporting to law enforcement. Ley was arrested for felony first degree criminal trespassing and an active arrest warrant.
Both were booked into Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
