GILBERT, Ariz. — A kitten was rescued by an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper after being thrown from a vehicle in Gilbert, Ariz.

An unidentified person threw a kitten out of a moving vehicle May 31 along US 60 near Gilbert. Trooper Montes was driving on US 60 and noticed a person on the side of the highway. He stopped to see if the person needed assistance.

The concerned citizen told Montes they had witnessed a kitten being thrown from a moving vehicle. Montes said the kitten was taken to the animal hospital and will get his vaccinations and everything he needs. The trooper is hopeful the small animal will be placed in a new loving home.

“Unfortunately this is a pretty common thing that we tend to see day to day with a lot of animals,” said Montes. “We try to do our best to make sure we get them off the highway safely and get them into other homes.”
