PEORIA, Ariz. — Highway 74, between Wickenburg and Phoenix is temporarily closed due to the Hot Springs Fire.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the road is closed in both directions, near Christian Church Camp Road, due to a brush fire. Traffic should use alternate routes, such as Interstate 17, Loop 303 and US 60 to detour around the closure.

AZDOT reports there is no estimated time to reopen the highway.

The Arizona Bureau of Land Management said resources are on the scene of a five-acre fire south of Highway 74, near milepost 19.

Arizona BLM reported about 4:36 p.m. May 25 that predominant winds were coming out of the north and are pushing the fire to the south. They have limited information as firefighters are working safely in the rapidly changing conditions.

Aviation resources are being used on this fire. BLM warns that the area is listed as a no drone zone.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
