KINGMAN — According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, there was an accident on Interstate 40, at milepost 36.
The crash has closed westbound lanes near Griffith Road.
ADOT reminds motorists to exit no later than Oatman Highway (Exit 44) to avoid getting stuck in the backup.
ADOT says alternate ways toward California include US 93 in Kingman, followed by state routes 68 and 95.
Currently there is no estimation on when they will reopen the westbound lanes. They reported the eastbound lanes to be unaffected.
Update: 12:23 p.m.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, four people have perished as a result of a wrong-way crash on I-40, near Kingman.
AZDPS said the driver was reported traveling eastbound in the westbound lane about 9 a.m. May 24. The crash reportedly occurred in the westbound lane of the highway. AZDPS said the vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle going westbound.
