MOHAVE VALLEY — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Mohave Valley man for alleged drugs on Tuesday.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Abel Angelo Rodriguez, 29, of Mohave Valley, for marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession, both felonies. MCSO said Rodriguez also had an active arrest warrant.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop about 2:25 p.m. May 7 on a man riding an unregistered mini-bike style motorcycle on Harquahala Drive. MCSO identified the man as Rodriguez and a records check revealed an active arrest warrant.

MCSO said Rodriguez repeatedly tried to pull away from deputies while they were retaining him. He said he had to take some mail to a friend at a nearby home. Deputies said they searched him and found six grams of marijuana, a digital scale and an envelope containing over $2,800 in cash.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
