KINGMAN — Help Animals Lives Today (HALT) is having a fundraising yard sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 11 at 2247 Golden Gate Ave.

The sale will be a donation sale, which means customers can make a reasonable price suggestion.

Some of the items available for sale are small furniture, electrical items, knick-knacks, clothes, artwork, baby and toddler clothes, water skis and body board and snorkel items.

HALT was started nearly 19 years ago and has always been a no-kill rescue. According to their website, they are dedicated to the welfare of companion animals and the sheltering and placement of these animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals and of pet overpopulation, providing educational programs on responsible pet ownership and adoption, spay and neuter benefits, creating paid foster homes for pets with planned pet trust funds and securing and planning for a pet’s future when owners become unable to care for them.

The organization stands by its philosophy that if the animal is not adoptable, it will be allowed to stay and live out the rest of its life there at the facility.

The organization works closely with other rescue groups in the area. They also work hard to get the animals adopted by holding adoption events and adopting through Petfinder.

Penelope Townsend, the organizer for the event, says the last few months at HALT have been high-intake months.

“We have higher vet costs because our intakes have needed more than just the regular vetting,” said Townsend. “Right now, we have two dogs with health issues, so this yard sale helps with the extra veterinary costs. We also need repairs to the outside runs and the horse barn roof.”

All donations go directly to help the animals at HALT.
