KINGMAN — A vehicle and a dog were allegedly stolen from a business on Blake Ranch Road.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Heather Joy Ohlinger, 38, of Kingman, for theft of means of transportation, a felony.

Deputies received a call about 8:20 a.m. May 3 from a business in the 900 block of Blake Ranch Road in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported they had gone inside the business and when they came back out the vehicle, and their dog, were gone.

MCSO said they stopped the vehicle, which was seen on Interstate 40. The female driver was reportedly removed from the vehicle and was identified as Ohlinger. The victim responded to the scene and said nothing was missing from the vehicle except the dog.

Deputies said Ohlinger reported she let the dog out of the vehicle somewhere along the highway, but couldn’t specify where.

Ohlinger was arrested and booked into Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.

Several deputies and animal control officers responded to the scene to search for the dog, but were unable to locate it. Deputies received a call from the owners on May 5 and they reported the dog had been located by a resident.

This investigation is ongoing.
