LAKE HAVASU CITY — A man was allegedly drinking and boating while carrying two small children in his watercraft.
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Daniel Raymond Wiest, 30, of Morrieta, California, for felony aggravated operating under the influence and an active arrest warrant.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety were patrolling about 3:50 p.m. May 4 in the area of Thompson Bay. They noticed a boat make a large wake in a posted no wake zone as it was traveling toward the Bridgewater Channel.
MCSO said the operator, identified as Wiest, was exhibiting signs of impairment. He was transported to the Lake Havasu Contact Point Water Safety Center. His blood alcohol content result was .136 percent.
Deputies said two children, ages one and four, were on board the watercraft during the incident. Wiest was also found to have an active arrest warrant.
Wiest was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
