Fees May Change at the Mohave County Detention Facility

KINGMAN — Booking and per-diem fees may change at the Mohave County Detention Facility.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dean McKie requested the Mohave County Board of Supervisors to raise the booking fee at the Mohave County Detention Facility to $63. That’s a $3 increase. McKie also requested to lower the per diem fee to $66.86, a 71 cent decrease.

According to the Board of Supervisors Meeting Agenda (Agenda Item #25), a letter from MCSO stated the decrease in the daily rate is due to an increase in inmate days, from an average of 536 inmates per day to 558. The document showed the increase in the booking fee to be a result of increased labor costs per intake.

The jail budget is about $13 million per year.

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 6. If the Mohave County Board of Supervisors approves the request, the changes would take place July 1.
