Lake Havasu Man Allegedly Hits Shopper with Shovel

LAKE HAVASU CITY — A Lake Havasu City man was arrested for allegedly hitting another person with a shovel.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Michael Patrick Obrien, 76, of Lake Havasu City, for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct, both felonies.

Deputies responded to a call about 2 p.m. April 26 from a business in the 3600 block of London Bridge Road.

The victim of the assault said he had exited the business and was standing in a parking area when a man, later identified as Obrien, allegedly approached him and shouted obscenities. During the argument, Obrien reportedly struck the victim with a shovel and caused injuries to his hand. MCSO said they noticed one of the victim’s fingers was half-way cut off. According to MCSO, witness statements confirmed the altercation and assault.

Obrien was arrested without incident and booked into Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.
