DOLAN SPRINGS — The young people in Dolan Springs care about Earth and are doing their part to celebrate the planet.
Kids Against Dumb Stuff (K.A.D.S.) and Mt. Tipton Schools are hosting the 2019 Earth Day Fair from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 25 at Mt. Tipton School, 16500 Pierce Ferry Rd. The Dolan Springs Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring the event.
K.A.D.S. is headed up by Carol Ann Bump, the president of the Dolan Springs Chamber of Commerce. K.A.D.S. helps young people get involved in community affairs. They offer social activities, classes and sporting events. The headquarters provides a safe place for children to read, do homework, play indoor games and visit with friends.
“I brought K.A.D.S. to Dolan Springs when I moved here over 20 years ago,” said Bump. “We don’t have a Boys & Girls Club and it gave local students an outlet to do performing arts. We don’t lecture, we provide alternative activities.”
The Earth Day Fair in its sixth year and will feature a variety of local businesses, class projects relating to environmental topics, a petting zoo, a meal and dessert, refreshments and free plant starters. The Mama’s Wranglers, a family country western band, will be performing during the event.
