FORT MOHAVE — The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has charged Megan Leann Millard, 27, of West Jordan, Utah, with fraudulent schemes and intent to facilitate shoplifting, both felonies.
Deputies contacted Millard April 13, who was in custody at the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility for an unrelated matter, about a January 4 incident. When asked, Millard denied the accusations.
According to police, deputies responded earlier this year to a business in the 5200 block of Highway 95 about an alleged shoplifter. The store’s loss prevention staff allegedly observed Millard on video surveillance entering the store, placing items from the shelf in her shopping cart and then returning those items for money at the return counter.
When asked, Millard provided staff with receipts for the purchase of the items, said police, but was never seen purchasing the items during her time in the store. The returned items were valued at about $90, which Millard accepted and left the business.
