FORT MOHAVE –  Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended an alleged run-away battery thief on Thursday.

MCSO deputies arrested Jonathan Dundee Hutchinson, 24, of Parker, for shoplifting, trafficking in stolen property, fraudulent schemes, taking the identity of another and resisting arrest, all felonies. He also was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing in the second degree.

Deputies were dispatched on April 4 to investigate a shoplifter at a business in the 5200 block of Highway 95. Police said loss prevention staff advised that a man, who they identified as Hutchinson, allegedly exited the business carrying two car batteries without paying for them.

On April 11, deputies were notified that Hutchinson had returned to the business. Police said Hutchinson gave them a Washington driver’s license with a false identity. Deputies attempted to detain Hutchinson and he fled and jumped a fence in the 1500 block of Teller Road. Police said they located Hutchinson hiding in the back of a truck.

Hutchinson was taken into custody and was transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.

MCSO was assisted by Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and ranger helicopter and the Bullhead City Police Department.
