BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City Police Officers and supporters carried the “Flame of Hope” through Bullhead City Wednesday, to help raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics Arizona.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run began at La Puerta Road on Highway 68. When the torch reached Bullhead Community Park, the torch’s arrival was celebrated with a Torch Reception Breakfast Fundraiser.
Mohave High School Junior ROTC and police officers proudly displayed the torch as they ran along Highway 95.
DJ Loke Lau provided entertainment and Firehouse Coffee donated tea and coffee at the Torch Reception. Desert River Kayak helped raise funds for the Special Olympics Arizona by facilitating the kayak fundraiser. Unfortunately, the kayak portion was cancelled due to the high winds, but the Mohave Accelerated Learning Center’s Key Club will be kayaking at a later date to continue their support.
Other participating agencies included the Bullhead City Fire Department, Bullhead City Community Emergency Response Team, Bullhead City Police Department Explorer Post 1255, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and Desert Lawn Funeral Home.
The torch will continue its journey as officers carry it throughout the nation.
