KINGMAN — Kingman Police Department responded to a vehicle and pedestrian collision about 6:30 p.m., April 4, in the intersection of E. Andy Devine Avenue and N. 4th Street.

According to Kingman Police Department, the driver, a 45-year-old man from Utah, struck a 71 year-old Kingman man in the crosswalk.

The accident caused life-threatening injuries to the pedestrian and he was promptly transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center. He was later airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas and is listed in critical condition.

Investigators believe that the driver’s vision may have been obstructed by the setting sun and clutter on the dash of his vehicle. The police said the driver’s license was also suspended.

No charges have been filed and the incident is pending further investigation. Police said additional impairment has not been ruled out. The roadway was restricted for nearly two  hours during the investigation.
