KINGMAN — Some downtown convenience store employees got quite the shock when a small SUV slammed into the front of the Circle K on Beale Street Wednesday afternoon.
According to employee Kim Trimble, the incident happened about 5 p.m. when a customer pulled up and accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
She narrowly missed serious injury because she was showing a customer around the store.
“God was watching me last night,” she said.
Another employee also escaped injury after scooting a few feet at the right time.
The store was closed until about 9 p.m. Wednesday. With the exception of boarded windows and visible damage inside the store, it was business as usual Thursday morning.
Customers were calling to ask if the store was open.
“We never close,” Trimble answered. “Unless someone drives a car through the window.”
No injuries have been reported and damage to the vehicle and store was minimal. The shock shifted the counter and cashier station about six inches.
According to store employees, Kingman Police took a report but no charges were filed.
“It was purely an accident,” Trimble said.
Any updates from KPD will be posted as available.
